Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in action on a fairly regular basis later this year and early next year, with the BCCI unveiling India’s full schedule for the 2026-27 home season on Thursday. The schedule comprises 9 ODIs – three each against West Indies, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe starting 27 September – in addition to 8 T20Is and 5 Tests.

And with both batting legends and former India captains eyeing the 2027 ICC World Cup in South Africa, the home season should give them enough match practice between the 19th and the 20th seasons of the Indian Premier League.
The key focus of the home season, however, will be the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against, which gets underway on 21 January and will be crucial to India’s chances of qualifying for the 2027 ICC World Test Championship final.
